Середина лета в Одессе всегда солнечная, хоть и ветреная, порой штормовая.   Утром играть на грунте уже не заставишь современную молодежь. Мы на поляну, нынче заросшую метровой травой, ходили расстояние — километровую разминку.   До обеда покрылись пылью, снаружи и изнутри, как шахтёры. Лето проходит быстро, поэтому программа насыщенна. Следующий аттракцион — пляж, тоже пешком. Но свидание с девушкой обязывает дополнительные приготовления — душ.   Прогулка до моря занимает хороший час. Многие герои этого повествования проживали в двух кварталах от центральной улицы, но бывало, не пересекались. Общих тем была уйма, но обсуждали их с разных углов — и они звучали ново.   Выход к побережью совпал с объявлением трёхчасовой песни по радиомагнитофону с лотка с мороженым.   Одесситы проходят первый пляж — «Ланжерон у двух шаров». Остановились в начале «Отрады». Много детских и юношеских воспоминаний связано с этим местом, где часто брали напрока...

STW or SOG?

I've never paid attention to the source chosen on the radar to show the true vectors. Two basic settings are commonly in use. Speed Through Water(STW) and Speed Over Ground(SOG). SOLAS requires Radars to have STW feed. But because I worked on the ship where water Log was not accurate, GPS speed was used. So I've got used to that preset. But I had several debates on what exactly should be used for collision avoidance. So. I went down to the root. What Exactly do we need to calculate Closest Point of Approach(CPA), Bow Crossing Range(BCR) and Time of (CPA)? Risk of collision exists if distance is decreasing and bearing to the target stays the same. It means that to determine all the data Radar should get feed from Compass(in that case compass should not be precise, but must be fixed to a certain direction. It original North can be at True 146 degree for example, but it should know that for entire observation). Thnking more and deeper I realize that it shouldn't. Then Radar c...

Mind between Sky and Water

  I wake up. I had many questions. They surrounded between many question which I had a lot. My memory was about lowering from ship.                This transferring woke me up. I felt several orientation changes. I was glad my crew can strap person secure to strecher. I was wondering how I am so ALIVE for so long)) Stroke was 12 hours hours ago... I decided to fall asleep again.... I had thevivid dream. The most natural in my live. I would describe my existence in other world. It was Alien rule. There were four location.  First three were chasing locations using to change.  Last was serving like exit my familiar world. It took ten days.
