- Can he speak some English?
- Oh, Yeah. He even knows some French.
- Good. There is a vacant position for Galley Utility(I do not why I started that position with capital letters).
That was conversation between crewing manager and my father. My father was looking for new passenger ship to join after he was "let go", because the group of vessels he was in rotation during that time had become one vessel short.
So he asked if there was position and if I could get some actual sailing time on the vessel underway(I hadn't received any proffessional knowledge there).
The news were sudden and I had to go.
I could have  joined other company as deck cadet for lower salary, but there was no time to argue.
My parents tried to arrange another interview one year later, but I insisted that from that from that moment I will apply for future jobs on my own.
